Homework, Info, and More! šŸ“š

Hi Third Grade Families!
A few updates and clarifications for this week:
QUICK REMINDERS

  • Homework:Ā No need to worry about sending homework folders back and forth every day! We can send math home as it appears in our curriculum, and students can turn everything in onĀ Fridays.
  • I’m sorry I was unclear about the papers that came home Monday!Ā I’d love to have theĀ family surveys back by Friday. They really do help me understand your child better!
  • Next week’s homeworkĀ will have a cover page and will be a little ā€œlight.ā€ We are just getting started, and homework is meant to beĀ independent practice. Next week will almost be practice inĀ having real homework!Ā As we do more in class, the homework will become a little more substantial. Remember, the general goal for third grade is aboutĀ 20–30 minutes of homework per day.
  • Friday:Ā Spirit Day — wear yourĀ favorite color!
  • Friday, 4:00–7:00 PM:Ā Reed Family Picnic! 🌭
  • We will still have ourĀ fire drill on Thursday.
  • No Music this week, unfortunately. I’ll share updates as I get them.
  • OurĀ Reed ROCKS AssemblyĀ is next week!

IN CLASS THIS WEEK
We are settling into our routines and getting lots of important learning underway! Students are reading independently and using our classroom library, writing personal narratives, and learning the structure and routines of our new math curriculum.
In SEL, we are working on skills for listening. We’ve also been talking about growth mindset, our tiered consequences (rewards and reminders connected to expectations, rules, and problem-solving), and what students would like to work toward as class-earned rewards.
CHROMEBOOK UPDATE
Our Chromebooks are not quite ready for students yet! I’m consulting with our IT person and expect that we will be able to get students logged in by Monday. The Chromebook login process is quite different this year, and our benchmark isn’t due until August 28, so I’m perfectly happy to take our time and make sure we get it right. 😊
Thank you, families, for your patience, support, and questions as we get this year up and running. Please keep reaching out whenever you need to!
Your kids are absolutely ROCKing it, and I truly think we are going to have the best year together!
Thank you, families!
Warmly,
Ms. Seyan
